Overview

Block Blast is an addictive, grid-based puzzle game that challenges your spatial reasoning and planning skills. Unlike falling-block games like Tetris, Block Blast lets you take your time. You are presented with three block shapes at a time, and you must place them onto an 8x8 grid.

Your mission is simple but challenging: Clear as many lines as possible and survive as long as you can.

Core Rules & Mechanics

The game is easy to pick up but hard to put down. Here are the fundamental rules you need to know:

1. Drag and Drop

At the bottom of the screen, you will always see three block shapes.

• Touch and hold a block to pick it up.
• Drag it onto the grid.
• Release to place it in an empty spot.

Note: You cannot rotate the blocks! You must use them exactly as they appear. This adds a layer of strategy to every move.

2. Clearing Lines

To remove blocks from the board, you must fill an entire row (horizontal) or column (vertical) with blocks.

• When a line is full, it disappears immediately.
• The blocks vanish, freeing up space for new pieces.
• You earn points for every clear.

3. Game Over

The game ends when none of the three available blocks can fit anywhere on the board.

• If you have a large block and only small gaps, you're in trouble!
• Always plan ahead to ensure you have space for the current set of blocks.

Scoring: Combos & Streaks

To get a massive high score, you need to master two advanced mechanics: Combos and Streaks.

Combos (Multi-Line Clears)

A Combo occurs when you clear more than one line with a single piece placement.

• 2 Lines: Double points!
• 3+ Lines: Massive points multiplier!
• Tip: Set up the board so that one well-placed block fills gaps in multiple rows and columns simultaneously.

Streaks (Continuous Clears)

A Streak happens when you clear at least one line on consecutive turns.

• Turn 1: Clear a line.
• Turn 2: Clear another line.
• The streak counter goes up, and you get bonus points for every turn you keep the streak alive.
• If you place a block without clearing a line, the streak resets to zero.

Top Strategies for Success

1. Leave Space for the 3x3 Block: The 3x3 square is the "game killer." If you don't have a 3x3 open space, and one appears in your hand, you might lose instantly. Always try to keep a large open area.
2. Don't Rush: There is no time limit. Look at all three of your available blocks before making a move. Ask yourself: "If I place this here, will I have room for the other two?"
3. Work from the Edges: It's often easier to clear lines from the edges inward. Leaving isolated empty spots in the center can make them hard to fill.
4. Prioritize Streaks over Survival: (For high scores) Sometimes it's better to clear one line now to keep your streak multiplier going, rather than waiting five turns for a perfect 4-line clear.
